The summer is here, and so is the continuing battle to find good used stock.
Unfortunately the recession is to blame, as people are hanging on to their old bikes for a bit longer instead of buying new.
However, we will not lower our standards just to fill the showroom with any old rubbish (so don't be surprised if it looks a little empty sometimes!)
And as a result of the flood of small capacity very poor quality Chinese bikes, there are very few decent secondhand scooters and 125cc machines around.
Please don't be tempted to buy one of these terrible Taiwanese horrors. They really are false economy.
- it'll break down more often than it'll work
- you won't be able to get spares for it
- you won't find anyone willing to work on it
- it will have a very low residual value (if any!)
- and some of them are just plain dangerous.
Oh... and if you're thinking 'But it's so cheap...only £600 BRAND NEW and it only has to last me 3 years', then you will possibly be very disappointed...in about 3 months, actually.!
Don't get me wrong. Not ALL of them are horrid, just most of them (for instance the Suzuki EN125 is made in China, and that is a most excellent bike).
Anyway, enough ranting. Enjoy the summer and ride safe.
Knees in the breeze (as my buddy says!),
